Figure incontournable de la photographie japonaise contemporaine, Chotoku Tanaka a assis sa notoriété internationale sur ses snapshots urbains réalisés au Leica. Il fait ses débuts en tant que photographe à seulement 22 ans et acquiert très vite une renommée mondiale. En 1976, il participe en Europe à l’exposition collective majeure Neue Fofografie Aus Japan aux côtés de 22 photographes japonais dont Shomei Tomatsu, Daido Moriyama, Nobuyoshi Araki.

“TOKYO 1966” Chotoku TANAKA
An essential figure in contemporary Japanese photography, Chotoku Tanaka has established his international notoriety on his urban snapshots taken with a Leica. He made his debut as a photographer at just 22 years old and quickly gained worldwide fame. In 1976, he participated in Europe in the major collective exhibition Neue Fofografie Aus Japan alongside 22 Japanese photographers including Shomei Tomatsu, Daido Moriyama, Nobuyoshi Araki.
The in)(between gallery has the honor of presenting a selection of his street photographs taken in Tokyo in 1966.
