REIKIMANZAN ~ TAKAO-SAN – Tatsuya HIRABAYASHI

Takao-san (a sacred mountain near Tokyo) and the Yukuyoin Yuhkiji temple and monastery of the Shinggon-Shu school (A.D. 744) are revered grounds for spiritual pilgrimage.

Ten years ago when Tatsuya faced his unlucky age (Yakudoshi) he contacted the Yukuyoin temple in Takao-san and asked for a purification ceremony (calamity driving off ceremony).

“Climbing up the mountain and praying, my sweaty body cooled by mountain air. I felt the sense that my body was physically and mentally being purified”.

It was during his climb to the temple to attend the ceremony that he photographed Takao-san and Yukuyoin Yuhkiji temple.

With his photographs Tatsuya hopes to transport the viewers to the serenity of Takao-san.
