With this exhibition we continue with our series of silkscreens exhibitions and workshops. This time Antoine d’Agata comes back to in)(between with a selection from his Mexico’s works, all produced and silkscreened by Maestro Pakito Bolino. Works that were recently exhibited for the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the MAP Photography Festival at Toulouse (may 2018), unprecedented installation as part of the RÉSIDENCE DE CRÉATION MAP.

Record 36 brings to Paris in exclusivity 18 silkscreens that reverberating d’Agata’s 30 and more years of work in Mexico since his first book about Mexico “Mala Noche”, probably where it all started for him.

Two major avant-garde artist, d’Agata, member of MAGNUM PHOTO has photographed in Mexico for over 30 years, investigating social taboos such drugs, prostitution, and Pakito Bolino, cofounder of the collective Le Dernier Cri, Artist Seigraphist, unconventional illustrator and narrator .

CODEX Silkscreens (Mexique, 1986-2017)

This exhibition is an outtake from d’Agata’s MEXICO contained within 18 large Silkscreens by Maestro Pakito Bolino, a dub that anchors their œuvres far from conventional illustration discarding all lines of repetitive storytelling bringing out raw fragments of socially hidden realities.

The prints are not only d’Agata’s obsession, or just an “Obsession” silkscreened by Maestro Pakito Bolino, and not only raw images of someone’s reality – but d’Agata & Pakito Artistic instinct, a point of intersection for a fusion of these 2 artists. Two-major Avant-garde Artists, always far from the conventional and repetitive narration; as if they were guiding the unorthodox.

Antoine d’Agata

Born in Marseille, Antoine d’Agata is a subjective documentary photographer and French filmmaker. At the age of 17, he became interested in punks and anarchist movements in Marseille. In 1981, following the dispatch of a police grenade, he lost the use of his left eye. Two years later, he leaves France. He studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York. He then worked as a reporter and the editorial department of Magnum Photos Agency, which he joined in 2004.

Pakito Bolino

Pakito Bolino lives and works in Marseille. He is a serigrapher, colorist, comic strip writer, musician. He is the co-founder of the Dernier Cri (http://www.lederniercri.org), an extraordinary collective of artists that evolves at the antipodes of the narrative and conventional illustration, by unceremoniously exploring the field of the wild image. A universe that is often destabilizing, raw, obsessive and instinctive. Based in Marseille since 1993, Le dernier Cri is a well-known independent publisher and has been exhibited all over the world.

Deux grands artistes d’avant-garde. D’Agata, membre de MAGNUM PHOTO a photographié au Mexique depuis plus de 30 ans, enquêtant sur les tabous sociaux tels que la drogue, la prostitution. Et Pakito Bolino, cofondateur du collectif Le Dernier Cri, artiste sigraphiste, illustrateur et narrateur non conventionnel.

Avec cette exposition, nous continuons avec notre série d’expositions et d’ateliers de sérigraphie. Cette fois Antoine d Agata revient à in)(between avec une sélection de ses œuvres mexicaines, toutes produites et sérigraphiées par le Maestro Pakito Bolino du collectif “Le Dernier. Des œuvres qui ont été récemment exposées à l’occasion du 10e anniversaire du festival MAP Photography à Toulouse (mai 2018), une installation sans précédent dans le cadre de la RÉSIDENCE DE CRÉATION MAP.

Record 36 apporte à Paris en exclusivité 18 sérigraphies qui réverbèrent plus de 30 ans d’obsession et de travail d’Agata au Mexique depuis son premier livre sur le Mexique “Mala Noche”, probablement là où tout a commencé pour lui.

CODEX Silkscreens (Mexique, 1986-2017)

Un extrait du MEXICO de d’Agata contenu dans 18 grandes Silkscreens par Maestro Pakito Bolino, un dub qui ancre leurs œuvres loin de l’illustration conventionnelle en écartant toutes les lignes de la narration répétitive mettant en évidence des fragments bruts de réalités socialement cachées. Cette exposition montre non seulement l’obsession d’Agata, une “Obsession” sérigraphiée par le Maestro Pakito Bolino, et non seulement les images brutes de la réalité de quelqu’un – mais l’instinct artistique d’Agata & Pakito, un point de rencontre entre ces deux artistes. Deux artistes d’avant-garde majeurs toujours loin de la narration conventionnelle et répétitive, comme s’ils guidaient l’hétérodoxe.

Antoine d’Agata

Né à Marseille, Antoine d’Agata est un photographe documentaire subjectif et cinéaste français. Dès l’âge de 17 ans, il s’intéresse aux mouvements punks et anarchistes marseillais. En 1981, suite à l’envoi d’une grenade de la Police, il perd l’usage de son œil gauche. Deux ans après, il quitte la France. Il étudie la photographie à l’International Center of Photography de New-York. Il travaille ensuite comme reporter ainsi qu’au département éditorial de l’Agence Magnum Photos, qu’il intègre en 2004.

Pakito Bolino

Pakito Bolino vit et travaille à Marseille. Il est sérigraphe, coloriste, auteur de BD, musicien. Il est le co-fondateur du Dernier Cri (http://www.lederniercri.org), un collectif d’artistes hors-norme qui évolue aux antipodes de la narration et de l’illustration conventionnelle, en explorant sans ménagement le champ de l’image sauvage. Un univers souvent déstabilisant, cru, obsessionnel et instinctif, basé à Marseille depuis 1993. Le dernier Cri est un éditeur indépendant reconnu et a été exposé dans le monde entier.
